Just finished a major update to my arty-tees page. I’ve added new tshirts and hoodies as well as adding more color selections for some tshirts. There are two links for some tshirts because amazon only lets me pick 5 colors per tshirt or product, so I just made another listing with more color choices. Also, some good news, the price on the hoodies dropped, thanks to amazon.

This painting is a bit different for me – done in gouache on a panel called “Aquabord” made by Ampersand. I laid out my colors on a wet paper towel on my oil palette/easel so they wouldn’t dry out. Then I used both painting knives and brushes to paint. The nice thing about the gouache is that it can be reworked by rewetting, it dries fast and you can mix watercolors in if you are missing a color. Since painting this I’ve used just white gouache with my watercolors in my sketchbook and really like that effect too.
If you want to frame without glass you can coat with Renaissance wax, an archival sealer.
The location was Shadowood Farm in Palm City, Fl. Its an organic farm and everything is grown in raised beds. [Rabbit prevention] Next time I go there I’ll try to paint the garden but this time I couldn’t resist the pond.
Here’s what we did on vacation. Mokie was worried at first but quickly acclimated, especially at the hotels. She even thought the elevator was fun in one hotel we stayed at. But she loved the cabin.
First of all, we had never been to Lake Lure, NC before and it is a really pretty place to go. We rented a cabin on the lake and even enjoyed the rainy days.

It was really thrilling to see this mountain the first thing in the morning. It’s a good thing I painted it then because the rest of the week it played hide and seek with me. One day it completely disappeared!

This little fishing pond was next to our cabin.

The Duck Pond was sort of behind the Fishing Pond. The Duck Cabin is built right over the water. Most of the time that we were there, no one was in residence.

This is the same scene as the first picture posted. It was drizzly so the rain made some nice marks on the painting.

There was a large meadow on the property and this mountain was usually visible. Across the roadway there was an area with pear trees and sometimes there were deer to bark at.
That’s all I was able to do there, but I did take lots of pictures and will be posting more from the trip – especially the Flowering Bridge.
